Holiday / Convalescent Homes

The Society owns five homes in four locations around the country. We have two in Queenstown and one in Nelson , Kapiti and Taupo.

They are all priced per night so that all members can enjoy the benefits regularly.

If you would like to view the availability of any of our homes please click HERE .
You now have the ability to pay for the home you require by internet banking

We hope you make good use of your homes. Bookings can be made work days between 9am & 3pm on 0800 OK FIRE. Bookings, where the requested time is available can be confirmed instantly with the use of internet banking or by Visa or MasterCard. You may fax (0800 653 475) or e-mail your request to the Society any time using the HOLIDAY HOME BOOKING REQUEST FORM (E-mail or print).
All the homes sleep up to eight people. They are not holiday cottages but full sized family homes in good residential areas. All have garaging for at least one vehicle, mostly two.

All Society owned homes have everything supplied except towels, face cloths and linen. Salt, pepper, tea, coffee, sugar, toilet tissue and cleaning products may be available. We ask that you think of others and leave a few essential supplies. It is your responsibility to leave the home in a clean and tidy state. The gardens, if any should be weeded and watered as best you can during your stay at the home. Telephones are supplied in Society homes but must not be used to make any type of toll call. We have not had the need to toll-bar phones as members have always treated the availability of a phone with respect. Local calls within the free dialling area of the home are free of charge.

Police and Army homes
We also have an arrangement with the NZ Police Welfare Fund that allows members of the Society to use their homes outside of ballot periods. Police homes are balloted only during Christmas/ New Year and school holiday times. The Society shares its homes with Police Welfare members under the same restrictions.

The Welfare Society is pleased to announce that we now have an arrangement with the N.Z Army, whereby we can have access to their holiday homes. Please phone 0 8 0 0 1 1 1 8 2 3 for all enquiries regarding these homes.

Australian Holiday Accommodation
The society has a number of agreements with various accommodation providers in Queensland. We are presently reviewing these arrangements and will keep members up to date. If you would like to contact any of these please do directly, rather than through an agent to receive any discount. We are interested in your feelings about the quality of these establishments so if you have any comments please click here and provide details.
