Earthquake Update Two
Day 42
Things have quietened down from a welfare view but we are expecting much more work as time goes by as many members are still living in condemned houses with no or broken sewerage. The storm water system still has not been tested and so with all of this, comes stress and worry about the future.
Much of the central city area is still partially blocked with rubble lying on the streets. (See photos) The city is really in limbo awaiting engineering reports and assessments from EQC and insurance companies and many businesses are closed or in temporary premises awaiting notification.
We are still regularly experiencing substantial numbers of after shocks (1800 approx to date) so nerves remain raw but unless they are up around magnitude 5 no one seems to notice and the general feeling is "life goes on". (As I am writing this we have just experianced another good shake)
