Fire & Emergency New Zealand 2022 Flu Vaccinations

Free flu vaccinations are now available for all people at Fire & Emergency New Zealand.

Picture
Around one in four New Zealanders are infected with the flu each year. While it is optional, getting the flu vaccination means you can better protect yourself, colleagues and loved ones from getting sick with the flu.

As our international border reopens, flu will again be entering the country from overseas. Getting the flu vaccination will reduce your chances of getting sick, and help reduce the pressure on our health system.

The COVID-19 vaccine does not protect against the flu. It is important to get both your COVID-19 and flu vaccine to be better protected.

Please note: There is no wait time between getting a COVID-19 booster and a flu vaccine. Go to the fightflu website to learn more about influenza and the vaccination.

The flu vaccination process is the same as last year, although it varies slightly for volunteers, employees and contractors.

VOLUNTEERS:

As always, volunteers are able to access their flu vaccination in three ways:
  1. Text us - Free text FLU to 8783 and receive a text message to show at one of the listed sites when you go to get your vaccination.
  2. Go online - Go to https://demo.vitalityhub.co.nz/fenz  and get a voucher emailed to you. You can print this or show it on your phone at one of the listed sites when you go to get your vaccination.
  3. Get reimbursed - Pay to get your vaccination done anywhere. Keep your receipt and go to https://demo.vitalityhub.co.nz/fenz to fill out a reimbursement form and get your money back

See https://demo.vitalityhub.co.nz/fenz-sites for a list of participating vaccination sites.

If there's no vaccination site listed near you:
  • You can be reimbursed for flu vaccinations done anywhere.
  • Keep your receipt and go to the Vitality Hub website to fill out a reimbursement form and get your money back.

OR:

Text NEW to 8783 or email flu@fireandemergency.nz with the name and/or location of the pharmacy or medical centre you want added. We'll then contact you to discuss.

EMPLOYEES AND CONTRACTORS:

For employees and contractors, how you access your free flu vaccination is dependent on where you are based. Our dedicated Portal page has all the information you need, and outlines the process for employees and contractors in each region.

Make sure to call your participating pharmacy or medical centre ahead of your visit to check if an appointment is needed, and if they have vaccinations in stock.

If you're getting your vaccination at a pharmacy, you'll need to complete a consent form. You can either complete it there, or print and complete in advance.

NOTE:  When getting your vaccination, you will be asked to provide your name, region and brigade. This will be used to confirm you are eligible for a free vaccination and to record how many vaccinations are given and who receives them.
