NZFFWS Educational Scholarship
NZFFWS Educational Scholarship is a new benefit for our members launched at the 33rd AGM 2020. It will be available for financial members children aged 5 to 16 Years. The intent is to support a family’s education costs.
Intent
To provide financial support to families for educational costs.
Time Frame
Interested parties would apply in December and Decisions would be made in January by the DMC.
Criteria
The money would be paid out in a lump sum.
To apply the Child must be attending an educational facility.
The money is to be used for Education purposes only, this may include the purchase of uniform and stationery.
There is a form on the Website that applicant or parent has to complete (draft below) to be considered
for the scholarship:

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
The NZFFWS Educational Scholarship is available to all children between the ages of 5 & 16 years old at the time of application and who is the child of a financial member of the New Zealand Firefighters Welfare Society.
APPLICATION criteria?
- Ages 5-10 will need to provide some form of artwork showing what they want to be when they leave school.
- Ages 11-16 need to complete an essay (length 500 words minimum) of who inspires them and what they would like to do when they leave school.
HOW MANY SCHOLARSHIPS ARE THERE?
There are 10 scholarships in total.
There are two for each of the 5 regions.
The age groups are, 5 to 10 and 11 to 16.

All winners will be award $500 in a lump sum.
When Are applications open?
Applications will open annually on the first Monday in October. Applications need to be receipted by the office no later than 3.00 pm in the second Monday in January.
